Logansport High School
In the consolation game of the 9th Grade Kokomo Invitational, the Taylor Titans freshman team pulled off a tremendous comeback and a thrilling win in Double OT. For the second game in a row, the Titans struggled in the 1st and 2nd quarters, scoring only 10 points before the half. The Titans picked up the defensive pressure at the start of the 3rd quarter and began to chip away at the lead. They began to turn up the heat on the offensive end of the floor in the 4th quarter scoring 17 points and holding Logansport to just 6. Battling foul trouble, the Titans again got help from their reserves. Ty Brown added a spark on offense scoring 7 points and Jolen Harris had 5. The Titans were lead in scoring by Wynn Takacs, who had 13 points. Bailey Owens had 12, Preston Pearce added 9 and Colton Kimbler had 8 points. For the second game in a row, Caden Sullivan had a solid performance. Caden played key minutes in the 3rd and 4th quarters and both OTs, taking care of the basketball and finding teammates for great looks on the fast break. Kimbler hit a 3 with 6 seconds left to force the first overtime. The Titans jumped out to a five point lead in that overtime, but couldn’t hold on and got down by three again late in the clock. This time, Takacs came to the rescue, hitting a three with 4 seconds left to force the 2nd overtime. Again in the second OT, the Titans jumped out to lead by 5 and hit some critical free throws to hang on for the win. The win moves the Titans back to .500 at 6-6. The Titans next game is at home Tuesday, February 3rd at 6:00pm. The Titans play Tri-Central.
