With several absences, we took a team of just 8 girls and 5 boys to the Middle School Track Hoosier Heartland Conference Championships today. The boys ended up in 9th Place scoring 11 points. Jaylin Reece was the boy’s top finisher, taking fourth in the 200m dash with a personal best time of :27.92. Trent Monroe finished fifth in the Shot Put with a throw of 34’8″. The boy’s 400m relay of Trent Monroe, Tyler Lawson, Ze’Vion Ezell and Jaylin Reece took 8th place with a time of :57.7.
The girls team finished 6th with 52 points. Top honors on the girl’s side went to Alison Pemberton who earned the Girl’s High Point Award for earning the most points of every girl there today with 33! She was the High Jump Champion clearing 4’8″. She won long jump with a jump of 14’8″. She also won the 200m dash with a personal best of :28.88. Alison placed 6th in the 100, earning her spot to the finals with a personal best of 13.69. Also scoring for the girls was Austyn Huffer in High Jump and the 400m dash. She earned third with a jump of 4’4″ and took seventh in the dash with a time of 1:15.4. Autumn Knapik finished fifth in the 800 with a time of 2:57.5. The 400m relay team of Molly St Clair, Austyn Huffer, Autumn Knapik and Kirsten Alexander took fifth place with a time of 1:01.1. The 1600m relay team of B’Elanna Aaron, Mindy Peterson, Autumn Knapik and Kirsten Alexander finished sixth with a time of 5:23. We also had great runs from Hailey Owens and Sierra Frisch! Several girls were just out of the ribbons.
We are really proud of all these kids! They kept positive, cheered for each other, were willing to step in for some kids that didn’t make the meet and pushed their hardest! They are a great group of kids!
