Taylor High School
The 6th grade Titans lost a hard fought game to Kokomo 37-25 on the Kats home court. Both teams started slow in the opening period as the defense dictated the style of play, the young Titans managed a 3-2 lead after 1 despite a 1-6 effort from the line. Both offenses picked it up in the 2nd which led to a 10 all game at the half, once again a 3-9 effort from the line kept the game close. Amarion Stewart’s aggressive driving was the sole reason for the Free Throw advantage. The ball movement in the first half was a real positive but the lack of rebounding cost the Titans a chance for the lead. After the half things changed as the Titans Defense struggled to control the Kats offense giving them too many easy buckets as they took a 4 point lead into the final stanza. The Titans hurt their selves again with a 2-8 showing at the line which proved costly once again. The Titans were wore down as the 4th period began, as they only have 6 strictly A players, while the Kats rotated in fresh bodies to keep the pressure on which eventually caused the Titans to crack. The 17-9 4th period advantage was misleading as the Titans fouled to stretch the game out but the Kats made enough free throws and broke the press for layups to seal the victory. The Titans managed to hit 6of 8 freebies in the quarter but the missed free throws in the first 3 quarters were game changers in the end. Dylan Bass led with 13, Stewart 9 and Jay’vier Patterson had 3 and another dozen rebounds. 6th grade is home tomorrow vs Peru.
