Coach Dill said, ” The first game we jumped on their pitcher right away, and put 2 runs on the board in the bottom of the 1st, but it seemed like the guys were impatient at the plate. They didnt have good approaches at the plate. They didnt work into good hitting counts. We’ve been talking to the guys about when to be aggressive, and when we need to work counts. In this game, the boys needed to work counts, and make their pitcher work a little harder, and we failed to do that. Then the guys had a defensive let down in the top of the 5th inning with 4 or 5 errors that allowed 7 runs to score, and that was all she wrote. Kendall Lanning threw out a couple of base runner,s and those are always good to see. He has done a really good job of controlling the running game lately, and thats a huge help to our pitching staff. Against Twin Lakes, I thought we played a really good defensive  game. Karleion Blackburn got his first full game behind the plate, and I thought he did a decent job. He has a lot of room to grow, but for the limited  amount of time he has had with in game situations, I thought he handled it okay. I hope he can continue to imporve back there. Kendall Lanning played an excellent shortstop, it was probably his best defensive game all year.  I also thought Trower Davis played an excellent second base today, and we need him to be able to log innings there. Nathan Keene has just been clutch at the plate and defensively. It seems he always comes up with big hits. what I love about what he does, he doesnt try to do to much at the plate. He is patient and has good approaches every at bat. He uses all fields because he doesn’t put big swings on the ball. I saw some positve things in the second game and hopefully we can carry some of that over into next week. We get to have a practice monday, and we will work on some things we have struggled with, and see if we cant iron out some of our issues going into the tournament.”
