The Taylor Titans JV squad took on the visiting Madison Grant Argylls Saturday afternoon in their annual matinee. They play early so not to interfere with girls sectional finals games being played later in the evening. Taylor started off strong, rushing out to an eight point lead after one quarter. The tide changed in the 2nd as the Titans stopped attacking the basket and settled for 3-pointers. The Titans were cold from distance today, only hitting 4-17 3 pointers. They were 1-7 from behind arc in the quarter and that three points were the only points they scored. The visitors went on a run in the 2nd and tied the game up at 18 going into the half. Madison Grant came out in the 3rd and continued their good play. They out-score the Titans by seven in the 3rd and the Titans never got the lead back. The Titans cut the lead to four, mid way through the 4th quarter, but couldn’t get any closer. The final score was 47-39. For the 3rd time in five games, the Titans were led in scoring by freshman, Jayden Davis. He had nine points and three rebounds. Toric Spires came off of the bench to score eight points, Alex Kropczynski added six points and Jaylen Harris had five points. Braxton Downs led the Titans in rebounding with five boards. Spires had four rebounds and Harris, Davis, and Clay Brubaker had three boards a piece. The loss drops the Titans record to 5-10. Their next game is Tuesday night when they play Clinton Central in a game that was postponed in January due to weather. JV tip is at 6:00pm.
