The Taylor Titans boys soccer team played their first road game of the season Thursday night when they travels to Oak Hill to take on the Golden Eagles. The host squad scored two and a half minutes into the game for their first goal, but were held scoreless over the next 10 minutes. Playing down three men (11v8), the Titans played well. It wasn’t until there were about 13 minutes left that the game broke open. The Golden Eagles controlled the ball very well and their passing was tremendous. The numbers finally came into play and the Titans just didn’t have enough bodies on the field. The home team took a 7-0 lead into the half. The Titans played much better in the 2nd half. They kept their positioning a little better and seemed to have a little more energy, despite not having any subs. Taylor had three shots on goal on the night with one of those shots slamming into the crossbar and another skimming just over the top of the bar. Brett Baer went most of the way in goal for the Titans ans came up with some huge saves. He had 11 saves on the night. Jaylin Reece switched to goalie with about 24 minutes to go in the game and had 3 saves. Coach Wiley said, “It was good to be bale to get Brett some field time. He almost scored his first career goal on a header that skimmed just over the bar.” The loss drops the Titans to 0-2. Their next game is at home on Wednesday, August 29th at 5:00 where they will face the Tipton Blue Devils.
