The Taylor Titans boys soccer team made the 5 mile trip to Tri Central for a conference game Tuesday night. Both teams were looking for their first win of the season. Tri Central opened the scoring about 15 minutes into the game. They got a second goal with about 5 minutes left in the 1st half. Lack of possession doomed the Titans in the first half, as they could not get enough good touches to gain control of the ball. Taylor just kind of settled for playing “kickball” most of the half.
The 2nd half was a little better but not good enough to turn the tide and momentum in the game. Tri Central tallied two more goals before the 20 minute mark of the 2nd half to push the lead to 4-0. Senior Sivert Karlsen got the Titans on the scoreboard with about 20 minutes left in the game. Jaylin Reece sent a corner kick into the box toward Zach Schesser. Schesser got a good touch and made a great pass to his left to Karlsen who tucked the ball just inside the near post and past the keeper. The final score ended up 4-1. Truman Howerton went the whole way in goal for Taylor and had 14 saves. The loss drops the Titans to 0-11 on the season. Taylor takes the field again Saturday afternoon for a make-up game with Eastern.
