Taylor Titans went 1-1 in the Howard County Tournament. On Friday night, the titans beat Northwestern 11-10 to advance to the champoinship game to take on Western. BJ Pemberton got the win on the mound going 4 innings. He gave up 4 runs, but only two of them were earned, and he had one walk and 5 strikeouts. Colby Devenport got the save after walking the bases loaded and giving up one run. He did an excellent job getting out of the jam he created. Taylor went down early giving up a run in the first, however, they answered in the top of the third with two runs of there own. Northwestern answered with two runs in the bottom of the 3rd to take the lead back. the Titans responded with a six run inning in the top of the fourth to give the titans a nice cushion to work with. Turns out the needed all of those runs in the fourth inning to claim their first victory of the season. Coach Dill pointed out that Trower Davis got his first Varsity start and responded with a great night at the plate and at third base. He noted that everyone stepped up and had a hand in the victory. Jayden Davis and Kendall Lanning each had two hits, and Clay Brubaker went 5-5 on the night. Coach Dill said he thought it was a great team win, the kids had great approaches at the plate, and everyone stepped up when their number was called. The outfield has been special early on and that should give our pitchers confidence in throwing strikes.
