The Titans picked up their 3rd win of the young season tonight vs Tri Central 14-4 in six innings, and they move to 1-0 in conference play. Jaylen Harris got his first win of the season. He gave up no earned runs, on 6 hits, 0 BB’s, and 7k’s. At the plate, the Titans were led by Trower Davis who went 4-4 with a 2B and a 3B, Clay Brubaker went 3-4 with a 2B and 5 RBI’s. Owen Farrington had a 2B & 2 RBI’s, Kendall Lanning added a RBI 2B and Jaylen Harris went 2-2 with a pair of singles. Coach Dill pointed out that Jaylen Harris pitched very well, and most importantly, he didn’t give up any walks. The defense had one bad inning, but the boys were able to overcome it because of their bats. He noted that their approaches are improving, and they a swinging at more strikes that they can put a good swing on. He also said “The guys jumped on them quick, and led wire to wire. I felt like the defensive lapses were because we got comfortable right away with a lead, but they quickly turned it around. The top four hitters in our lineup accounted for 10 of our 14 hits, and 8 of our 10 RBI’s. When the top and middle of our lineup is going good, we should have plenty of chances to win games. Combine that production at the plate, with 5 hits from the back end of the lineup, and no walks given up by Jaylen Harris, most nights they will walk away with a win. I’m proud the guys, but we have a lot of work to do. Defensively we have to be better, at the plate we have to keep getting better, because this team has bigger goals than winning regular season games. They want to win conference, and make a run in sectionals. In order for them to do that, they have to get right back at it in practice, forget about this win, and move on to our next opponent. The titans are back in action tomorrow night at Madison Grant with a 5:00pm start.
