Monday night was Mental Health/Suicide Prevention Awareness night at the boys soccer game. The Titans wore special yellow jerseys to help raise awareness for the cause. Taylor started off strong getting a lot of pressure in the offensive end of the field, but couldn’t seem to get a good shot off. That changed 15 minutes into the half when senior Sivert Karlsen opened the scoring. He dribbled through the defense and ripped a shot from just inside the 18 yard box to give the Titans a 1-0 lead. Peru leveled the match with about seven minutes in the first and that’s how the 1st half ended, tied at 1-1.
Taylor came out in the 2nd half and dominated the entire half. A majority of the haf was played in Taylor’s offensive end of the field. Karlsen scored again about six minutes into the half to make the score 2-1. Four minutes later, Brody Ireland sent a corner kick into the box. It was Karlsen again who got on the end of the pass to finish off his Hat Trick with his 3rd goal. Ireland and Karlsen connected again seven minutes later. It was Ireland’s 2nd assist and Karlsen’s 4th goal. The Titans kept the pressure on and their hard work payed off. This time is was Karlsen serving up the assist as sophomore Zach Schesser got on the end of the pass, took a touch and buried a shot just past the reach of the keeper. Senior Jaylin Reece finished off the Titans scoring with about eight minutes left in the game. It was Ireland again who sent a ball through the Peru back line. Reece ran onto it and slotted it past the keeper to make the lead 6-1. Owen Shimer started in goal and had 9 saves. Juniors Truman Howerton and Josh Bowman both played solid all around games in the field along with freshman Jonathon Doty. The win was a true team effort. The win moves the Titans to 1-12.
